As Shapednoise, Sicilian artist Nino Pedone has released some of the most visceral electronic music of recent years, a mix of forward-thinking sound design and punishing sonics. Connecting the abrasive textures of industrial music and noise with the warped energy of hardcore dance music and the immediacy of hip-hop and rap, his 2023 album Absurd Matter - the debut release on his new label WEIGHT LOOMING - is his most fully-realised work to date.
At Sónar he reunites with renowned visual artist Sevi Iko Dømochevsky to premiere ‘Absurd Matter: Continuum’, a brand-new AV show that accompanies his follow-up album Absurd Matter 2, due out this summer. Inspired by video game narratives, it’s set in a nightmarish sewer world, with delirious visions of strange, unnerving entities soundtracked by mangled and distorted soundscapes. Spiked with twisted humour and chaotic energy, this is one audiovisual experience you won’t forget.
