Plenty of artists call themselves unique, but Lord Spikeheart is truly one of a kind. The Kenyan artist has spent the last years redrawing the boundaries between death metal, grindcore, electronic music and rap, culminating in the release of his debut solo record, The Adept, in 2024. His defining statement to date, it’s his attempt to create an entirely new strain of extreme music, with assistance from likeminded sonic radicals including Safety Trance, Talpah and Scotch Rolex, plus Zambian rapper Backxwash and experimental Indonesian vocalist Rully Shabarah. It also goes some way towards capturing the raw energy of his less-is-more live show - just him, a microphone and a mosh pit - which he’s bringing to Sónar by Day this year. We can’t wait to welcome one of the most physical and electrifying performers around to Barcelona in June.
